The volume introduces the non-specialist reader directly for the first time to the fascinating but complex world of Leonardo's manuscripts and in particular to the Leicester Codex which, owned by Bill Gates since 1994, is the only Leonardo codex owned by a private individual. Contains studies and drawings on water, geology and astronomy in the years in which Leonardo in Florence, in addition to conducting research on flight and anatomy, was working on the grandiose project of making the Arno navigable from Florence to the sea as well as masterpieces artistic like the Mona Lisa. Domenico Laurenza by training in science is a historian of science. He deals with the history of the relationship between art and science, history of anatomy and geology. Collaborator of the Galileo Museum in Florence and SchroederArts in New York, he has taught and carried out research in Italian and foreign universities. Author of various volumes on Leonardo, he edited the new edition of the Leicester Codex with Martin Kemp.
